Kinomap fitness app leaks 42 million records
In the latest data breach popular fitness app Kinomap was responsible for accidentally leaking 42 million records.
Kinomap app lets you create and share interactive workout videos.
The leak happened because of an unsecured online database – a situation that keeps happening.
42 million records included Personal Identity Information (PII) – which is someone’s first/last name, initial of first name in combination with more sensitive data, like: medical info, healthcare info, social security number, driver’s license number, financial info (even credit card number).
This particular leak probably included full names, e-mails, home countries, usernames, timestamps but also some user profiles and account records. Access keys were also in the leak which can be used to hijack the accounts.
This situation may have affected users all around the world.
The company was contacted on March 28 but the situation was fixed on April 12.
The leaked data can be used by malicious actors to prepare more targeted schemes and attack the victims.
