Hacker are using coronavirus to persuade us to download malware into our computers. By doing this they want to gain important information.

Malware-infected e-mails are nothing new so to get people attention hackers decided to use coronavirus as bait.

They are sending emails with an attachment named “CoronaVirusSafetyMeasures_pdf” which contains RAT dropper (remote access trojan) that acts as a keylogger, registering all key presses. By opening infected attachment malware is being downloaded.

By exploiting human fear hackers are trying to get valuable information. That is why it is important to use common sense and not to open suspicious attachments.

If you get an e-mail like this:

  • verify the sender,
  • check the format,
  • scan the attachment/URL if you really want to open it,
  • don’t open obvious traps like this one.
