Safe child on the web – is it possible? The safety of your child is in your hands. It is you, the parent, who must be aware of all the threats in it. Did you know that a hacker attack occurs every 39 seconds?
Relax. We are here to get you to know more about cybersecurity. Online safety of you and your family are our main goals. This is why CyberRescue experts – security specialists, but also parents – have prepared a few tips!

Data protection lesson

It may sound complicated, but it is not. The most important thing is to make the child aware of the threats posed by sharing on the web their full name, address or phone number. Warn against informing to which class and school your child is going.

Talk about all the threats online

You do not know where to start the conversation? Maybe tell a short story that will allow the child to imagine. What would happen if Paddington wrote on the Internet to Winnie the Pooh, where he lives? Then Pooh would come to Paddington uninvited and took his favourite toy? Or what would happen if a photo of a crying Paddington would get out to the Internet?

Create a separate account

Do you allow your child to use the computer logged on your account? Remember that it has access to a lot of data that may be inappropriate for him. The child sees the history of your search engine, has access to stored passwords or even saved payment cards. Be aware that the browser saves your searches and often displays them as advertising proposals. 🙂 You do not want your child to find out what gift he will get for his birthday, do you? 🙂

Contact with strangers

It does not matter if your child is 8, 10 or 13 years old – everyone likes the company of others. Alert your child to not to inform “online friends” about your place of residence. Explain that every appointment with an e-friend must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Spend time together

We will always recommend having fun outdoors, but if the weather is not good, take advantage of that and use the Internet together. Thanks to it, you will see what YouTube channels your child is watching and who’s he admiring. Be interested in this world – many creators make interesting movies, but some also show inappropriate behaviour and receive money for it (drinking, nudity, fights, swearing)

Make him aware that nothing’s for free

The Internet is filled with numerous offers and advertisements that will try to convince you that you only need one click, and in 2 days you will get the latest smartphone or an expensive watch. Children often fall victim to “promotions”, offers or free currency in games. As a result, they install malicious or junk applications, share their data or view inappropriate content. Make sure that they know that there is nothing for free on the Internet – if something is for free, it means that our data are the payment.

Install Parental Control software

The installation of the parental control program gives the possibility to filter the content, control the time and monitor the child’s activity on the network. Applications of this type are available in online stores, on websites or selected stores.

Ready? Now you can safely surf the web. Remember, if you have any doubts or questions, please contact CyberRescue. Cybersecurity specialists will try to help you 🙂
