400 thousand payment cards records posted online for sale
400 thousands payment card records were found uploaded to a darknet shop two weeks ago, belonging mostly to US and South Korea banks customers.
You can find many different things in the darknet – drugs, personal documents, forged papers and also payment card information.
A cybersecurity company, Group-IB, found 400 thousand payment card records in a popular darknet shop on 9.04.2020.
The records contained mostly information linked to banks and financial institutions in US and South Korea. Group-IB has informed authorities about this situation to help resolving the problem.
These records were put to sale with a price of 1.9 million dollars, 5 USD apiece. It was said that these records had 30-40% validity rate.
Dumping credit cards records has been happening more often. The biggest database posted online to sale has been Indian banks customers card records in October 2019, with 1.3 million payment card records.
The source of the data for now is still unknown.
